I did this craft at a camp a couple years ago and thought others might enjoy it. It can either be made by the girls themselves or made ahead by the leaders for the girls to decorate. Let's begin!
What you will need:
- glue stick
- scissors
- 3 pieces of white paper cut into squares
- 2 pieces of thick card-stock roughly 5x5 inch squares
If your white paper isn't already in squares, fold and cut off the excess to make a square:
If you know how to make a paper crane this next step will be extremely simple. Fold the paper so corner #1 meets corner #3, then fold the top edge of corner #1 back.
Repeat by folding corner #2 into corner #3 and for the top edge back. Your paper should now resemble the picture below. Fold corner #4 down to meet #3. You should now have a square with two pointy folds on the inside.
Make two more of these so you have three total. Line them up like in the picture below so you have alternating open ends ("mouths") and bottom tips.
Apply glue to top of paper #1. Place paper #2 on top, making sure it stays in the "mouth to tip" alignment. Apply glue to the top of paper #2 and place paper #3 on top, once again keeping the "mouth to the tip". Congratulations! You have now completed the inside pages of your scrapbook. if you pull on the two outer papers it should unfold and look like this:
Set that aside a pull out your card-stock. Cut it into squares (roughly 5x5inch) so that they are slightly bigger than the folded squares of your pages.
Note: Cardboard covered in fabric or wrapping paper can also be used, and creates a more rigid cover
Place glue on the top of your folded paper and put one cover on the top. Flip it over and do the same to the other side. You should have made a cover-pages-cover sandwich.
YAY! Your Mini "Accordion" Scrapbook is now complete! Feel free to decorate the covers and fill the inside with pictures, drawings, stories, signatures... whatever you choose! Here I chose to use cardboard and fun-foam for the covers so that my scrapbook looks like a s'more. Yum!
I hope you enjoyed this craft. If you have any comments, questions or concerns please feel free to leave a comment below:
